Thomas Skripuletz is senior neurologist and deputy leader of the Laboratory of Neurochemistry in the Department of Neurology of the Hannover Medical School. His interest and expertise is Neuroimmunology. It includes diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Neuro-Sjögren, immune mediated neuropathies. Common representatives of inflammatory neuropathies are the chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN). Furthermore, severe neuropathy with limb weakness is often associated with Sjögren's syndrome, which is of special interest to his research group. Further interests include Neuroimmuno-Oncology, Psychoneuroimmunology, and neuroinfectious diseases.
The key topic of his research group is basic research including investigations of cerebrospinal fluid and blood. He aims to find new biomarkers in neuroimmunological diseases such as Neuro-Sjögren by using different investigative techniques. Further aims include a better understanding of diseases causes and therapeutic agents which are used in patients with neuroimmunological diseases.
