The article (1) titled “Induction of osteoclast formation by LOX mutant (LOXG473A) through regulation of autophagy” (doi: 10.21037/atm-21-4474) unfortunately contains errors in Figure 5 and the Results section of the main text. In Figure 5, the original statistical method used for the osteoclast cytoskeleton circularization experiment was not entirely accurate (as shown below). Previously, the number of F-actin rings was counted, and it is obvious that the number does not represent the differentiation effect of osteoclast. But the area of F-actin rings can accurately reflect it, so the authors use the cyclization area for statistical analysis and graphing for correction. Following this change, the legend of Figure 5, and the sentence containing the citation of Figure 5 in the Results section should be updated as well.

Effect of blocking autophagy on F-actin expression in osteoclasts

The word “number” in the 2nd sentence should be changed to “area”. The correct sentence is as follows:

Our results showed that 3-MA inhibited the area of F-actin rings forming in RAW267.4 cells induced by M-CSF (10 ng/mL) and recombinant mouse RANKL (60 ng/mL) (Figure 5A,5B).

The authors regretted the errors and confirmed that these corrections did not significantly impact the overall findings and conclusions of the paper.
