Abstract
Anticoagulation management after mechanical prosthetic heart valve (PHV) implantation should find the delicate balance between effectively preventing valve-related thromboembolic events while not substantially increasing the risk of bleeding (1). Mechanical PHVs traditionally require lifelong anticoagulation with vitamin K antagonists (VKAs).
