Abstract

Severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is associated with mortality that can exceed 40%, despite the use of strategies such as low-volume ventilation, positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP), prone positioning (PP) and early administration of muscle relaxants (1-4).
