The status of medical expulsive therapy in the age of evidence-based medicine
Abstract
Over ten years ago, the use of α-blockers like tamsulosin as medical expulsive therapy (MET) evolved into a widely accepted and popular treatment for conservative management of ureteral stones. In the early beginnings, there were mainly small studies of various quality and results, but evidence for the effectiveness of the treatment was underlined by several systematic reviews and meta-analysis (1,2).
