The 2016 hospital-acquired (HAP) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) guideline was sponsored by the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) and the American Thoracic Society (ATS), and endorsed by the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST), and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology (1).
